TERMS & CONDITIONS
Please note that by booking and purchasing a service you are confirming that you have read and agreed to the following terms and conditions. My practice is governed under Scottish Law and I am accountable to the Health and Care Professions Council. Please contact me by email in the first instance if you have any queries.
WHO CAN ACCESS MY SERVICES?
My practice is inclusive and non-discriminatory.
I provide a free initial 15-30 minute telephone or zoom consultation. This is arranged so that we can consider together whether input with me is likely to be in your best interest at the current time and to answer any queries. Please contact me using the contact form or by emailing email@example.com to arrange this.
I work online via video call and can therefore provide you with services wherever you are in the world. If you are living outwith the United Kingdom any work we agree to will be subject to the jurisdiction of Scottish Law.
My location is in Angus in North East Scotland and some walk and talk sessions are also available.
If for any reason we begin contact and a reason arises that means your mental health needs would be more appropriately met by another professional, profession, or service I will address this with you at the earliest opportunity. I reserve the right to refuse or terminate contact and this would most ordinarily be in the context that I deem that my input is no longer in your best interests.
HOW LONG WILL A SESSION BE AND HOW LONG WILL I NEED TO HAVE SESSIONS FOR?
The traditional therapeutic hour is considered to be 50 - 60 minutes in length. I will seek to work with you to guide how we spend the session time together.
I work to best practice guidelines set out by National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) and Scottish Government/ NHS Education for Scotland Matrix. They provide guidance for average number of sessions for various singular presentations, e.g. 8-16 sessions of CBT for moderate social anxiety.
I will not enforce a certain number of sessions on you, and the agreed number can be changed. You can choose to end your input whenever you want, or to extend the input past any initial agreement. Essentially, we will collaborate on how long you want to engage in psychological therapy for. Many people do not arrive in therapy with one singular problem or issue and there can be various reasons for and benefits of accessing psychological intervention for as long as you think it is helping you.
CAN I HAVE A FACE TO FACE SESSION?
The practice offers intervention on a remote basis only. This is through online video sessions via Zoom. Telephone sessions can also be considered. I have capacity to provide walk and talk sessions to anyone within the local area. Please contact me to discuss this if you are interested.
If you would like a face to face/ in person session with me this is possible through Tay Psychology. They have offices in central Dundee and Monifieth. You can find further information at www.taypsychology.co.uk.
WHAT WILL IT COST?
The cost of psychological intervention is £100 per session hour. This reflects the cost of my time with you, training, business maintenance, and my requirement to pay for professional services among other overheads.
If you would like a written report summarising intervention for yourself or other professional, this can be made available for you. The cost of this will be dependent on the level of detail required/ time taken to complete which would be chargeable at the hourly rate, £100.
Costs and fees are subject to change. You will be given 28 days notice of any change in fees.
DO YOU OFFER SLIDING SCALE RATES OR DISCOUNTS?
Psychologist fees vary, dependent on many factors. It is important to find the best fit for you personally and financially. I provide a limited number of discounts. Please contact me if you have concerns about affordability.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I'M LATE, OR IF I CANCEL OR MISS A SESSION?
There will not be any re-reimbursement if you are late, although I will try to be flexible in accommodating late arrival in terms of time afforded in session. This is not guaranteed though and will not occur if any change in time would impact on another individual's session.
All fees are to be paid on booking through the website, or prior to your scheduled session if invoiced.
If you require to cancel your appointment please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice and do not wish to reschedule the fee is non-refundable.
If you cancel and ask to reschedule your session within 7 days the fee can be transferred to another session. If you go on to cancel or not attend the transferred session the cost will be non-refundable.
If you book a session and do not attend the fee is non-refundable.
CAN I GET MY MONEY BACK IF I DON'T THINK YOU'VE HELPED ME OR THE RESULTS WEREN'T WHAT I EXPECTED?
It is my aim to have transparent regular reviews with you to ascertain the effectiveness of our sessions and if we are meeting your goals. If we are not then I will seek to work with you to make changes in input to your best interest. You can end the therapeutic relationship at any time.
I cannot guarantee the effectiveness of psychological input as this is integrally linked to the dynamic between us and you making changes for yourself based on this and other specific interventions. I will not be held liable for any outcome which is not to your desired effect. Refund of fees will not be provided in such circumstances.
WHAT IF I HAVE A COMPLAINT TO RAISE?
If you have any complaints I would hope you can address then with me in the first instance. If this is not satisfactory then any complaints should be directed to the regulating body for psychologists, the Health and Care Professions Council.
IS MY INFORMATION AND WHAT WE TALK ABOUT IN SESSION CONFIDENTIAL?
One of the most important parts of psychological therapy is that you have a safe and confidential space to talk and be listened in. There may be times when it is relevant for me to talk to others about your care, in these instances I would seek to speak to you first about this and would not disclose your information to any third party unless you provided verbal consent except in circumstances whereby disclosure is required by law, it is necessary to ensure your safety or that of another person(s) or animal, it is discussed anonymously in my professional supervision, or your details are required to be shared in the context of my serious illness or death.
WHAT HAPPENS TO MY INFORMATION?
Any written information you provide or that is recorded about you is kept in line with General Data Protection Regulations for the United Kingdom and the Information Commissioner's Office. Please be assured that your information will be stored and destroyed securely in line with advice about information keeping from the leading professional membership body in the United Kingdom, the British Psychological Society.
The practice's IT equipment has anti-virus and encryption software installed. If you send personal information online or we agree that I send you information online this is at your own risk. I will not be held liable for any loss of information or virus transmission.
